About the Item

An English Chinese Chippendale style tall bamboo secretary from the 19th century, with slanted lift-top writing table, doors and drawers. Created in England during the 19th century, this bamboo secretary charms us with its slender proportions and exquisite Chinese Chippendale influence. The overhanging desk opens up to reveal a partitioned interior, perfect to organize letters and documents, or conceal a laptop. The upper section is topped with a pierced gallery accented with delicate finials, sitting above a central open shelf flanked by two doors. The lower section comprises of a lateral door and two drawers on the other side. The back is, of course, unfinished. The ensemble is raised on four legs, curving in the front and straight in the back. With its warm finish and elegant silhouette, this English Chinese Chippendale style tall secretary from the 19th century will bring a touch of exotic elegance to any home, placed in a bedroom, office or foyer.
