A fine George III slant top desk or bureau secretary chest of patinated mahogany, c.1770, in the Sheraton style.
An inlaid slant front drops to reveal a series of small drawers and document compartments, with beautifully inlaid decorative designs on the fitted drawers and cupboard door, over a frieze of two beaded short drawers and three graduated beaded long drawers, the drawers with escutcheons and brass swan's head pulls, flanked by two pull-out slides - which act as rests for the slant-top, the whole raised on bracket feet.
