About the Item

this fantastic 2-part secretary cabinet is veneered entirely in a mix of carob-wood, walnut and band inlaid and is a rare example of the workmanship of Norhern Italian craftsmen borrowing from the traditions of both the Lombardy and Venezia regions of Italy, the scroll shaped pediment in an exaggerated fashion sits atop a shaped upper cabinet with arched reverse etched glass panels depicting figures Carnevale di Venezia, the figures with bright mercury accents to their masks, purses, coat buttons, and shoe buckles, the top resting atop the bottom serpentine shaped case housing a flip down secretary above three lower drawers, the whole raised on shaped bracket feet, the interior of the upper section with a series of cubbies and an interior door, the lower secretary section with a sliding interior reservoir and small drawers, two sliding pull out candlestands are at the base of the upper section while two sliding pull out door supports are located above the drawers on the lower section, width of upper section is 50 inches while depth is 13.25 inches
