Italian Venetian Secretary (Secretaire / Bureau Cabinet) 18th Century An 18th-century Italian Venetian Baroque secretaire, crafted in burl walnut and walnut veneer, exemplifying the refined craftsmanship and ornate elegance of Venetian furniture. The piece features an arched stilted pediment above an arched mirrored door, opening to reveal an interior compartment with multiple pigeonholes lined with antique paper and two small drawers. The slant-front writing surface encloses a central pigeonhole door flanked by pigeonhole cabinets and additional drawers, while the lower cabinet offers three long serpentine-front drawers with original brass hardware, all raised on shaped bracket feet. This secretary is a fine example of Venetian Baroque design, combining decorative walnut veneer, mirrored door, secret compartments, and functional writing and storage elements—a highly desirable piece for collectors of 18th-century European furniture.
