About the Item

An elegant Louis XVI, Zopfstil, roll-top secretary desk, crafted in the late 18th century. The piece features a three-drawer base and a three-door upper section with a projecting central risalit. A surrounding gallery rail with delicate rosette decorations highlights the refined architectural design. The writing surface extends outward to reveal an interior fitted with eight small drawers and a central compartment. The secretary rests on slender, tapered, and fluted legs. Veneered in fine walnut, the surfaces are richly decorated with inlaid borders and geometric parquetry patterns, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. Fire-gilded bronze fittings add a refined touch, while the writing surface is finished in high-quality black leather.
