About the Item

Elegant Emilian limelight of Parma manufacture, datable to the mid-18th century, the middle of the Louis XV period. Carved solid wood cabinet, entirely hand-carved, with rich rocaille decoration on front, sides, and cove. The cabinet features three slightly wiggled drawers on the front and a sloping downhaul concealing an inner compartment with small drawers. The sides, while linear, are also richly carved with floral motifs. The legs are shaped, and bronze vents and original handles complete the ensemble with consistent and refined taste. Preserved in first patina, it has never undergone invasive restoration: only minimal consolidation work is reported (some minor redoing to secondary elements of the legs and edges). It is an intact and authentic piece of furniture, full of charm, that tells its own story through the lived-in surfaces and warm intonation of antiqued wood. Condition: Furniture in good structural and general condition. Light restoration is recommended, limited to: surface cleaning, possible preventive woodworm treatment (no active attack found), minor reinforcing gluing, polishing and waxing.
