About the Item

The secretary is a commanding example of early 18th-century English design, inspired by an original from around 1710. Finished in light rustic pollard burl oak, the figured veneers lend warmth and depth. The architectural form reflects the stature and refinement of Queen Anne furniture. A dramatic double-domed bonnet top, with carved and turned finials, crowns the piece and establishes its formal presence. The upper cabinet opens to reveal a fitted interior with multiple drawers, inset leather panels, and detailed architectural features, including arched pigeonholes and molded divisions. Below, a leather-lined slant-front bureau opens to a writing interior with drawers - some hidden, cupboards, and pigeonholes arranged for utility and display. Two drawers in the lower case provide extra storage and balance the composition. Decorative yet functional, this secretary suits a library, study, or formal interior rooted in classic English tradition. Dimensions: 45.13" W x 22" D x 91" H Open depth is 35" Made-to-Order - Lead time 18 - 20 weeks.
