About the Item

Rare "Angelo Necessario" wall shelf by Paolo Pallucco et Mireille Rivier, Pallucco Italy 1989. "Angelo Necessario" wall shelf by Paolo Pallucco and Mireille Rivier for Pallucco, Italy 1988 Paolo Pallucco and Mireille Rivier are highly reputated for their non conformist approach to design and their ability to bridge the gap between art and design. Among a number of other pieces designed by Pallucco and Rivier, the "Angelo Necessario" wall shelf was part of an unforgettable exhibition that took place at a former slaughterhouse in Milano in 1989. Pallucco and Rivier had deliberately chosen this site to stage their radical designs which created a perfect match to the rawness of the place. This is the original and highly sought after "suspended version" of the "Angelo Necessario" wall shelf which represents the death of an angel with his wings extended. With only two points of attachement to the wall the shelf seems like suspended in the air. The "Angelo Necessario" wall shelf is one of the most accomplished results of the radical research on design made by Pallucco and Rivier which are known for their meticulous attention to detail. The precision in craftsmanship is evident in the flawless finishes. The shelves seem like floating just supported by the open wing of the stylized angel.
