About the Item

Founded in Stockholm in 1902, Nordiska Kompaniet manufactured many of 20th century’s now iconic Swedish works. One of NK’s designers was David Rosén who was known for balancing tradition and innovation. Rosén designed items that suited the tastes of refined city elites, as well as everyday homes of the expanding middle class. He attended the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm where he mastered the craftsmanship of Scandinavian design, putting a strong emphasis on organic materials and minimalistic, quiet statement pieces like this shelf. This model “4205881” magazine shelf consists of five horizontal ledges as well as a separating panel in the middle, which showcases the veneered wood’s rich grain beautifully. The interplay of the reddish-brown tones create a warm harmony, lends the surface a sense of depth and refined elegance, aligning perfectly with the gentle softness of the finely curved corners. The open structure of the front and the sides create an airy feel, making it perfect to display magazines and newspapers in a structured manner, or to showcase impressive collections of booklets. The shelves are deep and narrow, providing more than a sufficient amount of storage space. The slender slots with their accessible sides create an honest and functional design element that is elegant. This shelf stands sturdily on the tapered wooden legs, creating a balanced base. With its elegant shape and careful design, this piece rises above the endless passing of trends, establishing itself as a modern classic in the realm of interior design. A perfect choice that brings a sense of refinement to any setting, whether in the clarity of a professional office or the comfort of a living room. Using clean forms and high-quality materials David Rosén’s timeless works are created to be enjoyed and fully utilised by generations to come. Condition: In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The back has minor scratches and veneer damage. Dimensions: 22.83 in W x 13.58 in D x 25.19 in H 58 cm W x 34.5 cm D x 64 cm H
