About the Item
This ARP sideboard from the 1960s was designed by Pierre Guariche, Joseph-André Motte, and Michel Mortier, and produced by Minvielle.
Characterized by its modernist aesthetic, the piece consists of two modules: one with a bar door that opens to reveal a light blue tray, and the other with a side door and adjustable shelves. The structure is supported by black square tubular steel legs, mounted on 4 feet.
The three designers were the founding members of the A.R.P. (Atelier de Recherche Plastique) group, established in 1954 with the goal of breaking away from classical design traditions and creating accessible, functional furniture featuring innovative forms. Their collaboration produced some of the most significant designs of the 20th century, including storage furniture for Minvielle and iconic armchairs for Steiner.
