Art Deco Sideboard Attributed to Eliel Saarinen
By Eliel Saarinen
Located in Atlanta, GA
Rare sideboard attributed to Eliel Saarinen (father of Eero Saarinen) designed before his immigration to the United States. In a style that we now refer to as "Art Deco," this style was considered the "National Romantic Style" in Finland essentially a twist on what became known worldwide as Art Deco with its strong vertical lines and medieval references. The workmanship of this cabinet and its materials is magnificent. Note the carefully matched panels of golden masurbjork (birch root), the intricate carvings of medieval knights (very similar to those guarding Saarinen's Helsinki Railway Station built in 1906) and the high contrast of golden and dark birch wood seen again in Saarinen's furniture designed in the United States in the late 1920s. While Saarinen's son Eero went on to become the more famous of the two, it was Eliel who could be considered the grandfather of Nordic Art Deco...

Superb Dor e Bronze Mounted Figural Sideboard Attributed to Francois Linke
By François Linke
Located in Swedesboro, NJ
This exquisite French sideboard, attributed to the legendary cabinetmaker François Linke, showcases the artistry and refinement of late 19th to early 20th century Parisian craftsmanship. Expertly constructed, the piece features a rich mahogany and kingwood veneer with intricate floral marquetry inlay, framed by gilt-bronze mounts of exceptional quality. The central panel highlights a beautifully detailed urn overflowing with flowers, tied with a ribbon motif, epitomizing the opulent Louis XVI revival style. What truly distinguishes this sideboard are the doré bronze figural mounts—graceful classical maidens adorn each corner, lending elegance and sophistication to the structure. The bronze ornamentation is finely chased and gilded, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail for which Linke was renowned. Topped with a luxurious marble surface, the cabinet provides both functionality and artistry, making it an outstanding addition to a dining room, salon, or collection of important French furniture. François Linke (1855–1946) is celebrated as one of the greatest ébénistes of the Belle Époque, and this sideboard captures his signature style of combining neoclassical tradition with refined artistic innovation. A rare and important piece, this sideboard is ideal for collectors and designers seeking museum-quality furniture...
