This cabinet features a clear rhythm and flow established by means of a well-thought-out lay out that is utterly well-balanced. The carved circles immediately catch the eye and are the signature for this item; a design that established during the seventies when Brutalism was at his highest level specifically in Belgium. This movement is an architectural style started from the mid-20th century, aiming for raw, geometric and compromise-less buildings. Characterized by blatant concrete-skeletons with geometric patterns and Puritan materials. In decorative arts brutalism is highly represented in furniture design. The design convinces visually through its stabile construction accomplished by the remarkable straight and circular lines. The deep black color underscores the cabinet's substantial and robust appearance. The interior is furnished with shelves, providing plenty of storage space. Overall, the style is simple and understated and strongly reminds of the designs of De Coene.
