About the Item
Betty Rubble merge contemporary substances like polyurethane and metal
with high-gloss ceramic wainscoting, elevating an archaic design to a sophisticated and refined piece of art.
The sideboard is part of Paleolite, an experimental collection of accessories that arise from Cibic’s research on Etruscan and pre-Columbian architectural languages, and from his obsession in collecting photos of stones and minerals to create collages. The objects are made with experimental materials, such as metal limes or super-light nebulized conglomerates.
Betty Rubble was part of Be Yourself to Shine. The exhibition, set in an 18th-century palace in the heart of Turin, merges historic architecture with contemporary design, creating a unique sensory journey. It showcases one-of-a-kind pieces and installations resulting from collaborations with young Italian artists and designers, exploring the relationship between art, materials, and emotion. Each work is conceived to integrate with the spaces, generating a dialogue between the past and the present. The exhibition also offers a reflection on the boundary between art and design, with pieces that transform everyday objects into artistic and sensory experiences.

Bumper Sideboard by Frédérique Domergue, Contemporary, Limited Edition
By Frédérique Domergue
Located in PARIS, FR
Bumper is a sideboard with three doors. By combining two materials (the pink copper of the doors and the deep black of the oxidized zinc top with its bluish glints) and two textures (the bumpy appearance of the doors and the smoothness of the top), the artist has created a study in contrasts that changes with the light. Each of the three compartments has a shelf.
