About the Item

A handsome early 19th century French Empire buffet enfilade sourced in Provence, France. The façade is veneered in bird’s-eye maple with fine natural figuring, framed by a solid mahogany structure and sides showing a deep, aged tone. The top is a later white Carrara marble slab that complements the clean geometry of the piece. The design follows the balanced geometry typical of early 19th century French Empire and Restoration furniture, with three drawers over three paneled doors, each retaining the original brass pulls with neoclassical medallions. Inside, a single full-length shelf provides generous storage. Original paper shipping labels underneath reference Tarbes and the Hautes-Pyrénées with railway markings via Bordeaux St-Jean, confirming its southwestern French origin and 19th-century transport route. Structurally revised and polished by our in-house team, the piece is solid and stable while preserving its patina and surface character. Some age-related cracks, finish wear, and marks to marble consistent with age and use. - Origin: Provence, France - Period: Early 19th Century - Materials: Mahogany, Birdseye Maple, Carrara Marble - Dimensions: W 70.25" x D 19.25" x H 38" - Condition: Structurally revised, sound and stable, with age cracks, small surface losses, and gentle wear consistent with its age and use.
