About the Item

Stunning detail and the highest quality construction is found in this American Federal Revival sideboard with French influence. While it is Federal Revival at the structural level, it is French at the stylistic level. Likely Grand Rapids School, this piece exudes unique style and sophistication reminiscent of the early 1800’s. Solid mahogany primary wood, crotch and burl mahogany veneers, Birdseye maple, marquetry drawer trim and center motif, serpentine front, early 3-ply backing boards, carved cabriole legs, original brass hardware, are beautifully combined to give rise to this extraordinary piece of art in furniture. This piece was produced during the peak Colonial Revival period, ca. 1915–1930. An incredible statement piece for an entry hall, dining room, or any environment that calls for that one very special piece.
