About the Item
George III–style mahogany sideboard of substantial proportions and elegant architectural form. The piece is finely constructed in richly figured mahogany, showcasing striking flame-grain panels to the cupboard doors, framed by fluted pilasters and inlaid oval fan medallions to the drawer uprights.
The stepped top follows a classic breakfront profile above a long central drawer flanked by two shorter drawers, all fitted with period-style brass swan-neck handles and retaining their working locks. Below, three cupboard compartments open to reveal generous shelved storage, making the piece highly functional as well as decorative. Raised on turned tapering legs, the sideboard retains strong classical balance and visual lightness despite its scale.
