About the Item

A striking and highly sculptural sideboard by Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, produced by their workshop Votre Maison in France, circa 1950s. Known for their robust carving, architectural silhouettes, and masterful use of oak, Guillerme et Chambron created some of the most distinctive furniture of the French post-war period—this piece is an exceptional example of their vocabulary. The cabinet features the designers’ signature textural, hand-carved solid oak, displaying a warm natural patina and the expressive grain for which their work is celebrated. The angled, chamfered sides and subtly tapered legs give the piece a monumental presence despite its intimate scale. Two doors open to reveal interior shelving, offering generous and functional storage. A beautifully carved oak pull and the artisanal joinery throughout speak to the high level of craftsmanship particular to Votre Maison. The piece maintains its original finish, showcasing decades of natural aging, making it both an elegant furnishing and an object of sculptural interest.
