About the Item
Overall, the piece of furniture appears as a harmonious juxtaposition of different elements. The lower chest clearly reflects the design approach of Francesco Ferrario, son of Pietro, for contemporary production, as evidenced by the skilled yet conventional decoration that has solidified over time. The upper section seems to be designed solely as a frame to showcase the significant virtuosity of Pietro Ferrario's inlay work.
The upper part features a prominent inlay that offers a panoramic view of a cantilevered terrace above a pool. Two pathways, surrounded by greenery, extend towards cultivated fields and the mountains in the background, with the distance measured by cypress trees. The woods used are numerous, animated by a dense pattern of engravings crafted with great skill. The inlay is so perfect that it borders on the exhibitionistic.
