This is a large antique grand sideboard. A Scottish, oak and burr oak buffet cabinet, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
Exceptional quality, with craftsmanship and proportion expected of furnishing stately homes.
Displays a desirable aged patina and in superb order throughout.
Oak and burr oak present peerless grain interest and an enviable depth of colour.
Imposing and well featured, this is a classically appointed cabinet.
Arranged with a shallow gallery upper over a wide sideboard, adorned with a quartet of turned finials.
Useful trio of drawers, each dressed with brass pendant handles over Gothic quarterfoil backplates.
Distinctive field panel doors, accentuated with turned medallions within arcaded nacelles.
Appointed with inset, brass lined locks, each cabinet door lock in working order — key present.
Quality mahogany linen slides add versatility behind the panelled doors.
Generous central shelves set deep within the base, with panelled backs.
Raised upon a stout continuous plinth base, the rear fully finished with shaped feet.
This is an extraordinary antique grand sideboard, with large proportions and exceptional craftsmanship. A wonderful example of Scottish Victorian furniture, with a nature well suited to the best rooms. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready to enjoy.
