A Louis Philippe antique French vanity cabinet with richly crafted marble top and flamed walnut structure with two main drawers.
The Louis-Philippe style during the July Monarchy period under Louis-Philippe's reign from 1830 to 1848. It was an eclectic development of French Neoclassicism, incorporating elements of Gothic Revival style. It was the decorative French imposed not by royalty but by the tastes of the growing French upper class. In painting, neoclassicism and romanticism became the dominant style. Much of the style was drawn from the personality of the king himself. Unlike his Bourbon predecessors, he wore business attire, lived in Paris, and avoided ceremony; it carried its own umbrella and did not impose official styles.
