About the Item
1960's Horst Brüning sideboard for Behr Germany. Off-white lacquered frame with heavy aluminum sliding doors concealing stacked shelves and drawers. This rare edition sits on an aluminum designed frame. Horst Brüning, an architect and designer born in Hamburg, studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts until 1956. He later studied design in Copenhagen and Stockholm before opening his office in Stuttgart in 1963. Brüning developed a close relationship with design luminaries Preben Fabricius and Jörgen Kastholm beginning in the mid-1960s. In original condition with visible wear and scratching, including a deep scratch on the top left side edging. Another similar one is available and listed separately (LU922440217272).

Horst Bruning
Horst Bruning is a designer whose keys ideas are minimalism, functionality, durability and the spirit of the time. On the other hand, however, Bruning's furniture is timeless. Bruning studied Architecture and Interior Design at the College of Graphic Arts in Hamburg until 1956. In 1963, he set up an architecture and design office in Stuttgart. During this period, Bruning came in contact with Kill International. Kill International is an established and famous manufacturer, who has also produced many designs by Preben Fabricius and Jörgen Kastholm. Bruning has also worked together with this architect duo.
