About the Item
Charming small chest of drawers by Häkli, Finland, from the 1950s. Crafted in warmly honey toned birch wood with a light, graceful stance typical of Finnish mid-century design, the piece rests on elegant tapered legs that give it an airy presence. The two drawers are fitted with simple brass ring pulls, adding a subtle touch of refinement. Inside, the drawers are stamped with the maker’s mark. The back is veneered allowing the piece to be placed with the back showing and not necessarily against a wall.
Its compact scale makes it a versatile piece for contemporary interiors. It works beautifully as a bedside table, a small hallway cabinet, or a living-room side piece next to an armchair or sofa. The clean lines and soft curves lend themselves easily to both minimalist and more eclectic settings, blending in without disappearing.
