Mid century sideboard designed by Jussi Peippo and Olli Borg in the 1960s. Manufactured by Asko. Made from wood with wood veneer. The edges and handles are made from solid wood. It stands on a wooden base. Jussi Peippo (11 June 1933, Sortavala – 24 June 1982, Helsinki) was a Finnish interior architect. He is best known for the export collection of wooden furniture he designed for Asko in the 1960s, which was used, among other things, in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the Rossija Hotel in Moscow and the Viru Hotel in Tallinn. His style included clean and simple shapes that emphasized materials and sparse colors. His products include the Tectonia, Alli and Hidalgo furniture series. Peippo's last significant interior design work was for the Hotel Presidentti in Kamppi, Helsinki. Peippo graduated as an interior architect in 1957 and then worked at Asko under Olli Borg until he continued as a freelancer. In 1969–1970, he was in Singapore on an expert assignment for the United Nations. He received the Häme County Art Prize in 1976. He died at the age of 49 in 1982. Olli Borg (18 January 1921, Helsinki – 28 February 1979, Helsinki) was a Finnish interior designer. Borg graduated from the Central School of Art and Design in 1949. From 1950 to 1954, he worked at Viljo Revell's architectural office, but later had his own design office from 1957 to 1963 and 1967 to 1979. He was chairman of the Finnish Designers' Association Ornamo from 1957 to 1958. Borg designed the interior design for many public buildings, including the Meilahti Elementary School (1949–1953), the main building of the Helsinki School of Economics (1950), the Vatiala Blessing Chapel (1961), the Lilla Teatern (1962) and the Museum of Applied Arts building (1977–1978). Borg's most notable works also include the interior design of the industrial center and hotel, better known as Hotel Palace, together with Antti Nurmesniemi and Olavi Hänninen, in 1949–1953. In addition to interior design, Borg designed furniture for the Asko furniture factories, of which he was the chief designer in 1964–1967. From 1956 to 1964 he also worked as a senior lecturer at the Institute of Applied Arts. Borg's brothers were the opera singer Kim Borg and the music producer Jaakko Borg. Borg was awarded the Pro Finlandia medal in 1965.
