About the Item

This very rare sideboard with a display cabinet was designed by Hans Wegner and produced by Ry Møbler in Denmark in 1965. It is a striking example of mid-century Scandinavian design, combining functionality with refined detailing. The sideboard is crafted from richly grained rosewood, a material known for its deep, warm tones and striking natural grain patterns, which give the piece a sophisticated and timeless appeal. The interior of the cabinet is finished in oak, which provides a light, contrasting element that complements the dark rosewood. The sideboard features tambour doors with distinctive metal and wood handles. When opened, these doors reveal adjustable oak shelves and pull-out drawers, which provide versatile storage options and help keep the contents organized. The design of the sideboard is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, with the tambour doors contributing to its streamlined appearance. The upper display cabinet, with glass sliding doors, offers an elegant showcase for objects while maintaining a clean and minimalistic aesthetic. The interior shelves in the display cabinet are also adjustable, allowing for flexibility in how items are displayed. The cabinet remains in excellent condition, with only minor signs of wear typical of its age. The rosewood veneer retains its deep, rich color and exhibits the distinctive grain patterns that enhance its visual appeal. The oak interior has remained well-preserved, and the glass sliding doors are free of any notable imperfections. The sideboard’s structure is sturdy, and its components are in good working order, with the tambour doors sliding smoothly and the drawers functioning as designed. The dimensions of the sideboard are as follows: a width of 200 cm (78.7 inches), a depth of 49.5 cm (19.5 inches), and a height of 72 cm (28.3 inches). The display cabinet has a width of 200 cm (78.7 inches), a depth of 33.5 cm (13.2 inches), and a height of 100 cm (39.4 inches). These dimensions make it a large and imposing piece, ideal for a spacious living or dining area, where it can serve both as a functional storage solution and an elegant display unit.
