About the Item

Late 18th Century Venetian Neoclassical Polychrome Giltwood Display Cabinet, Late 18th Century Venetian Hand-Carved, Painted Giltwood Cabinet, circa 1780–1795 A superb late 18th-century Venetian cabinet, entirely hand-crafted, hand-carved, and hand-painted, exemplifying the refined artistry of Venetian decorative furniture during the transitional period between Rococo and Neoclassical styles. This exquisite cabinet is richly decorated in original giltwood and polychrome paint, featuring a soft celadon body, faux-marble deep teal columns, and shimmering gold leaf accents that create a visually striking palette. The architectural composition is extraordinary: A dramatic crest with sculptural floral bouquets and neoclassical urns. Finely carved ribbon-tied wreaths, swags, and scrolling acanthus leaves. A beautifully carved and gilded door frame, emphasizing the craftsmanship. Decorative carvings on the sides, inspired by Napoleonic and classical motifs. A stepped plinth base adorned with stylized foliage and rosettes. Every surface showcases meticulous Venetian workmanship—no detail overlooked, no area left unconsidered. Inside, the single glass-front door opens to reveal three shelves, ideal for displaying collectible porcelain, small artworks, books, or personal treasures. Perfectly proportioned for displaying porcelain, decorative objects, or personal collections. The sides are adorned with hand-carved Napoleonic style elements, adding symmetry and sculptural presence from every angle. All gilding remains original, showing a beautiful aged patina. Retains its original period key. This a rare and highly decorative cabinet that brings Venetian grandeur to any interior—ideal for collectors, designers, or anyone seeking a museum-quality statement piece. The versatile size—tall yet narrow—allows this piece to fit beautifully in almost any room, including spaces where larger cabinets would overwhelm. Traditionally, a refined cabinet of this type would have been placed in a lady’s bedroom, boudoir, or elegant parlor/salon, used to display fine objects, devotional items, or precious keepsakes. Today, it adds a touch of Venetian grandeur to hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, or dressing rooms. All gilding is original, retaining a beautifully aged patina. Includes its original period key. A rare, museum-quality Venetian cabinet that combines sculptural beauty with practical display potential—perfect for collectors and designers seeking an extraordinary statement piece. Measurements: Width: 25 in. Depth: 11 in. 18th Century French Louis XV Painted Commode with Galbé Facade Bronze Hardware
Located in Miami, FL
18th Century French Louis XV Painted Commode with Galbé Facade and Bronze Hardware A fine 18th Century French Louis XV period commode featuring a beautifully painted finish in soft blue, grey, and antique white tones. This elegant five-drawer chest showcases the classic galbé (serpentine) facade, characteristic of the Louis XV style, with graceful curves and refined proportions. The commode retains its original form and construction but has been professionally refinished to revive its patina while preserving its antique charm. It is fitted with ornate gilt bronze hardware, including pierced handles and escutcheons, adding subtle brilliance against the painted surface. With its Provincial character, this piece reflects the timeless aesthetic of Southern France—painted furniture that became fashionable during the 18th century as a lighter, more relaxed alternative to the formal Parisian styles of the Régence and early Louis XV periods. Originally designed for the dining room, such commodes today are equally at home in bedrooms, living rooms, or elegant entryways. The five drawers glide smoothly, offering ample storage. Each drawer front features raised and molded panels with shaped rails, while the sides echo the same paneled design. Dimensions: 53" W × 26 ½" D × 37 ½" H A superb example of 18th Century French craftsmanship, this Louis XV painted commode is a decorator’s dream—equally suited to a modern interior with clean architectural lines or a rustic Provençal setting with stone floors and patinated finishes. 18th century French furniture, Louis XV commode, painted French chest, galbé front commode, Régence style commode, Provincial furniture, antique French blue commode, French country décor, vintage painted dresser...
