An elegant and richly decorative 19th century French vitrine cabinet, finely crafted in beautifully figured walnut and adorned throughout with ornate gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts. Of serpentine outline, this striking cabinet features a fully glazed bowed front and sides, allowing light to flood the interior and display contents to superb effect.
The vitrine is surmounted by a shaped cornice with scrolling ormolu mounts, above glazed doors framed by elaborate gilt bronze foliate borders. Internally, the cabinet retains its original deep red velvet lining and shaped display shelves, providing a luxurious backdrop ideal for the presentation of porcelain, silver, objets d’art or fine collectibles.
The lower section is enriched with delicate floral marquetry panels, raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in finely cast ormolu sabots. A superb example of French craftsmanship, combining elegance, quality materials and decorative sophistication.
