About the Item
A 19th century marquetry vitrine or display cabinet from Switzerland. Made of walnut with inlaid veneers of maple and elm. Large sculptural crown with hand-carved scrolls and inlaid marquetry bird. Glass paned door with working lock and key. Interior is lined in lavender moiré printed paper and has three adjustable shelves. Dovetailed drawer at the bottom with checkered inlay face and brass pulls. Top pane of glass replaced. Some paper loss and tears. Split in the back from shrinkage. Circa 1870-1890.

A 19th Century French Louis Philippe étagère, or display cabinet with shelves. Made of solid rosewood with fine lemon wood marquetry inlay borders and rosettes. Good quality craftsmanship with carved barley twist columns and delicate turned finials. Tiered top shelves with s-curved decorative supports and mirrored back above two glass paned cabinets, each with working lock and key. Bottom cabinet opens to one adjustable shelf. The mirrors are old with silvered patina. Small repair to right curved decoration and finials. Elegant tall, slim proportions. Circa 1820-1830.
