About the Item

A very fine antique inlaid mahogany Sheraton Revival display cabinet vitrine by Waring Gillow, circa 1898. This very elegant antique cabinet is of the very highest quality was made by one of the premier cabinet makers of the 18th-20th centuries, the cabinet is made from figured flame mahogany and is sumptuously inlaid with Neo-Classical Satinwood marquetry garlands, ribbons and patera. The back having a pair of carved urn shaped finials joined with a garland of carved bell-flowers and connected to a central carved cartouche with a carved bow, the back is inlaid with corresponding bows and garlands, to the center is an oval mirror. The mirror is flanked with a pair of locking vitrines each with hinged lift up lids lined with the original velvet, the sides with curved glass and the top also with glass, these would perfectly display jewelry or other small precious objects of virtue. The base having a larger display case to the center with bowed glass doors, also lined with the original velvet and flanked by two long doors inlaid with oval paterae and enclosing a single shelf, above are a pair of drawers inlaid with satinwood garlands and fitted with the original gilt brass handles. The cabinet is raised on six tapering legs with spade shaped feet, the sides of the cabinet are inlaid with satinwood stringing. The cabinet having the manufacturer's celluloid tag to the inside of the left door " Waring Gillow Ltd. Manufacturers by Special Appointment to the Queen". The cabinet is in excellent condition and of the finest quality by one of England's finest cabinet makers, this very elegant cabinet is ready to grace your space.

A fine, elegant, antique Austrian mahogany Biedermeier secretary desk cabinet, circa 1820. The cabinet in two sections, the top with a curved architectural pediment, below is a curved door tabernacle cupboard, flanked by a pair of columns with gilt bronze bases and capitals. The base with a series of four graduated drawers with shield shaped lock-plate escutcheons inlaid with bone, to the center is a fall front writing surface enclosing a fitted interior with a series of drawers, pigeon holes and a central locking door, the doors and drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing. A very rare antique George III English Mahogany secretary bookcase, with a fitted collector's or doctor's cabinet to the base, circa 1790. The bookcase in two sections; the top section with a flared cornice with a frieze of dentil molding below, the bookcase with twin glazed doors with intersecting curvilenear astragals, the doors enclosing a pair of adjustable shelves. The base having a deep drawer with a locking fall front desk, fitted with a tooled & gilded leather writing surface, and a fitted interior with pigeonholes with removable doors and drawers each fitted with an oval gilded name label. Below are a pair of locking doors enclosing an elaborately fitted interior; comprising one long shallow tray shaped drawer above a host of 13 drawers of various sizes, all with the original brass hardware and corresponding oval gilded name tag, to the left side is a file space.
