About the Item
A magnificent Italian 18th century giltwood, polychrome and white Carrara marble Baroque console vitrine from the Piedmont region. This unique and extremely decorative console is raised by stunning cabriole legs with richly carved lavish scrolled designs and striking foliate movements with a polychrome finish. The legs are connected by a striking X shaped stretcher with wonderful scrolled designs and a central shell reserve. The pierced frieze displays fabulous carved flowers and reeded scrolls centered by a most attractive palmette. All below the elegant fitted white Carrara marble top that follows the contours of the console. The vitrine above is raised by beautifully scrolled supports below a mottled and beaded carved giltwood band. The door and sides retain their original hand blown curved glass panes and are framed within fine carved scrolled and reeded foliate patterns. The upholstered interior displays three glass shelves. The majestic top crown is centered by a large and richly carved foliate reserve flanked by detailed and charming flowers. All original gilt and finish throughout.
