About the Item

An impressive Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. walnut cabinet vitrine in the manner of Maggiolini. The cabinet is raised on eight square tappered supports with elegant maple wood inlays. Above the straight frieze at each side are striking doors that open outwards to reveal a single shelf and two drawers without crossbar with ormolu keyhole escutcheons. Over each door and across each drawer are exceptional Neo-Classical maple wood inlays of cornucopias and floral rinceaux patterns on a quarter veneered kingwood panel. The panels are framed in a handsome walnut and tulipwood border also repeated at each side. Flanking each door and drawers are wonderfully executed maplewood marquetry bands with highly detailed charming floral inlays. At the center is a glass door that opens to reveal three shelves. Above, the mottled powerful top crown displays additional fine marquetry across the top and along each side set on a charmwood background.
