About the Item
Attributed to Tony Duquette, this dramatic lacquered vitrine cabinet exemplifies the theatrical glamour and bold materiality associated with Duquette’s interiors. Produced in the United States circa 1960, the cabinet is finished in a rich burnt-orange lacquer and features glazed double doors, glass sides, and a mirrored back that amplifies both light and displayed objects.
The interior is fitted with integrated display lighting and includes adjustable shelves sourced directly from the Duquette studio. The verso bears a handwritten inscription reading “Duquette Studio,” consistent with known studio practices for bespoke furnishings created for private interiors rather than commercial production.
Architecturally scaled yet visually light, this vitrine transforms functional storage into a sculptural display object. Ideal for showcasing decorative arts, sculpture, or collectibles, it functions equally well in residential or gallery settings.
