About the Item
An impressive 18th century painted armoire from Provence, France, circa 1760. Highly carved with romantic motifs including hearts beating on a drum, kissing doves, floral bouquets, oak leaves etc, indicating it was a matrimonial armoire. From the private collection of Pierre Moulin, founder of the Pierre Deux shops and author of the French Country Style books. The interior shelves are wrapped in vintage toile de jouy fabric. The case is painted in light gray. The armoire retains its original iron hardware including lock and key. A very special piece.
