About the Item
A 19th century French faux bamboo armoire, or wardrobe, made of pitch pine with solid cherry faux bamboo details. Beveled mirror door opens to an interior with two adjustable shelves and one fixed shelf. Working locks and key. Bottom dovetailed drawer with divided interior. Decorative turned spindle crown with large finials and removable triangular pediment. Shipping label underneath the drawer with printed date of 1861. Very good quality and craftsmanship. All original and in great condition for an antique over 160 years of age. Small losses to carved escutcheon on the door and trim on the drawer. Minor restoration on legs. Mirror has losses along bottom edge. We recommend that this armoire be fastened to the wall to better support the weight of the door. Circa 1850-1860.
