About the Item

19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Armoire excels at stately elegance but with a lighter color palette that is so versatile with today's more casual decors. Able to fit even with eight foot ceilings, it features a broadly arched, boldly molded crown flanked by a brace of pomegranate finials with a striking full relief repeating acanthus plume motif on the bonnet that extends all the way down both sides to the wall. A similar treatment has been given to the apron below, but this time with banded wheat, completing the classical design and architectural influence. Between we find exquisitely tapered and carved columns with spiral fluting that also provide a framework for the generous full-length mirror fitted to the door. The mirror is also enhanced with egg dart trim, providing a lovely reflection of the entire room and serving as a full length dressing mirror.
