Description:
Antique two-door cupboard of Alpine tradition, dated 1850.
The deep, luminous blue background with rich patina hosts a sequence of vertical panels decorated with vases filled with flowers, painted in a lively palette dominated by reds, greens, and touches of ivory. The floral compositions alternate tulips, buds, and ramages, creating a harmonious decorative rhythm typical of 19th-century Tyrolean folk painting.
The side surfaces are painted in a warm golden ochre, enriched with phytomorphic motifs and dynamic brushstrokes. The red and white vertical bands, decorated with sinuous patterns, frame the sides and add a dynamic, scenic effect.
The upper cornice and the base feature a faux-marble finish in rosy and earthy tones, highlighting the craftsmanship of the piece. The original wrought-iron hardware further enriches the ensemble, preserving the authentic character of the wardrobe.
Its compact yet slender proportions, combined with the chromatic intensity and richness of decoration, make this wardrobe ideal both for traditional interiors and for contemporary spaces seeking a strong focal element. The stylistic and pictorial elements fully reflect the Alpine decorative tradition of the mid-19th century, a period in which folk painting achieved remarkable expressive vitality.
Restoration Information:
The photographs show the furniture in a state that is not yet restored or only partially restored.
At the time of sale, the restoration will be completed according to the customer’s tastes and preferences: the exterior will be waxed and any scratches or marks removed; the interior will be cleaned and polished with shellac.
Our workshop guarantees a conservative restoration, aimed at respecting the integrity and authenticity of each piece of furniture. All items are treated to ensure solidity, durability, and hygiene.
After the interventions, the furniture will be ready for use, suitable for storing clothing, tableware, or food.
Scheduled interventions:
-Structural restoration: repair of small missing parts, closing any gaps in the back panel, consolidation of deteriorated areas, control and repair of hardware.
-Anti-woodworm treatment carried out thoroughly.
-Cleaning and sanitising of the interior.
-Exterior finishing with natural beeswax.
-Interior finishing with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.
Customizations:
Upon request, it is possible to agree on:
-the desired degree of restoration;
-the customization of the interior (adding hanging rods, shelves, dividers, etc.).
