About the Item

c. 1880s/1890s; Edwards Sons - Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, England This antique cabinet brings together three of the major artistic movements from its period: Arts and Crafts, Craftsman, and Art Nouveau. It comes in three sections that can each be pulled from the other for ease of movement and travel. The main center portion is comprised of two cabinets above (with ten interior hooks each) with five drawers in two sizes below. On either side of this central storage section are two tall wardrobes boasting mirrors adorned with a floral motif across the top. 98" W x 26" D x 91" H Wardrobes (x2): 22.5" W x 22.5" D x 78"H and comes with 10 coat hooks each. The center cabinet has 3 large drawers on the bottom with 2 half-size drawers in the middle. The top part of the console is an open cabinet with one adjustable shelf that can be placed in one of 3 positions (it should be noted that the shelf is manual and sticks heavily due to age). There are two contemoprary holes drilled in the back of the center console when it was used to house electronics. The three main components are in great shape; the woodwork is solid and in beautiful condition. The center console has a loose leg in the front and the hardware on the top cabinet is lax. The mirrored doors on both of the side wardrobes are extremely heavy. The hardware on both side cabinets turns to release the latch and is functional.
