About the Item

Modernist two door wardrobe designed by Hermann John Hagemann and manufactured by Thonet or Mücke-Melder, c. 1930. The wardrobe is made of chrome plated tubular steel and walnut veneered wood. This wardrobes are restored on request, delivery time 10-12 weeks. Hermann John Hagemann (1902) was an Austrian architect known to have worked as a site manager alongside Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for both the German pavilion at the World Exhibition in Barcelona, 1929 and for the house Tugendhat in Brno, between 1929-30. It also collaborate with Albert Esch, one of the best-known modernist landscape designers in Vienna. For the Werkbund settlement in Vienna, 1932, Hagemann was asked to design the interior for the House no. 25-28 by the French architect André Lurçat. For this occasion, Hagemann designed some modernist tubular steel furniture objects, which were manufactured by Thonet-Mundus.
