About the Item

Paint decorated 19th century French cornflower blue armoire in three parts. The armoire with two doors having brass escutcheon plates, recessed cartouche form panels separated by musical heraldic devices within egg/dart circles. The armoire with a bell flower carved bonnet including a S-scroll central crest. The doors open to a cream painted interior with 4 removable but not adjustable wood shelves. Later metal brackets have been added to the doors. Dimensions: 52" W, 19 1/4" D and 91" H Condition: Please see photos for details of condition including but not limited to space to joinery on side panel, stable age cracks including to bonnet and right door, cut-out to lower back panel, old hinge marks on both sides of door (from original hinges), old losses to bonnet, breakage to brass escutcheon plate, loss to round element on apron, wear consistent with age and use with the Armoire retaining an authentic and colorful Country French presentation.
