Stunning All Original 18th Century Dutch Oak Bombe Cupboard w/Tulip Plateaus

About the Item

Breathtaking all original 18th century Dutch bombe cupboard or linen press. This phenomenal and striking antique three extra large exterior drawers and an enormous interior to store a plethora of goodies. Retaining it's original finish, we were totally blown away with its unbelievable appearance. If you happen to look closely at the crown, you will notice five flat plateaus or shelves, these actually do serve a purpose; originally. these cupboards were constructed for prominent Dutch tulip farming families and those shelves showcased their prized flowers. Though these cabinets were primarily utilized in a homes main living parlor today, they're welcomed in most any room of the home. Perfect as a media cabinet storing the television and music devices and other electronics out of sight, in the master bedroom keeping each seasons clothes within easy reach for the next seasons attire, or retro fitted as an amazing secret bar cupboard revealing itself when needed. However you deem the best use for this fantastic find, its sure to make numerous family events much more delightful within it's presence.. As most of our incredible antiques do, this fine Dutch cupboard came to us quite literally in pieces. Which is a good thing for you as a potential buyer. Our restoration team took it upon themselves to breath new life into this extraordinary antique. When I saw pieces, that is what I mean though, nothing was broken---the glues had just dried up and lost their integrity. My craftsmen finished dis assembling this antique, cleaning each and every joint prior to re-gluing and clamping this work of art into the excellent example of 18th century craftsmanship you see here. It's original finish was left untouched, giving this great Tulip Cupboard the pedigree it deserves. Original lock, key and drawers function as new. Don't miss this excellent example!!

This extremely rare, Antique French Cupboard, is from the Château de Loyat in Brittany, which I believe dates back to the 1500, was in a condition, that Antique dealers can only dream of. The French Cupboard or Cabinet, is exactly what you would expect, a 300-year-old antique French Cabinet to look like, if no one ever touched the finish, let alone restore the Antique Cupboard. Our opinion is, that this Antique French Cupboard or Cabinet, could have been made in the late 1600s or early 1700s and if I did not know that this Cupboard was made from French White Oak, one would have thought it was constructed of iron, based on its weight. Our centuries old French Cupboard, was constructed without the use of any nails or glue, for the entire Antique Cabinet was assembled using wooden pegs. Our Old Plank restoration department, has just completed a 240-hour conservation procedure, wherein lieu of just replacing the old worn wood oak boards, we chose to harden them and only used small fillets of antique French Oak for repair. Yes, this became a labor of love, but for us, to find an antique French Cabinet, in this virgin untouched state, is quite rare nowadays, so, the choice was made to conserve, rather than restore, which required triple the labor.
