Zuri - Young Woman, Bronze Abstract Nude - African Sculpture
Located in Pretoria, Gauteng
Zuri, which is beautiful in Swahili, is a Bronze African Abstract Nude and marks a significant moment in my creative evolution—an expansion from sculpting wildlife into exploring the human form. Initially, my art was inspired by Africa’s magnificent wildlife, but over time, the graceful silhouettes of tribal warriors and women—often glimpsed through the blistering summer haze—began to captivate me in a new way. There was something profoundly moving about their presence—dignified, resilient, and quietly powerful. That vision led me to explore the human spirit in bronze. Zuri is an abstract interpretation of that essence: rooted in strength, shaped by grace, and elevated by simplicity. Through her, I seek to honour not just form, but feeling. Bronze sculpture in a rich traditional patina with hints of Verdigris...

WIENER WERKSTATTE
The Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workshop) exerted an enormous influence on artists and designers throughout the first part of the 20th century. In 1897 a group of progressive artists and designers, led by architect Josef Hoffman and painter Koloman Moser, formed the Vienna Secession which became the Wiener Werkstätte Produktiv-Gemeinschaft von Kunsthandwerken, Wien (the Viennese Workshop and Production Cooperative of Art Works in Vienna) in 1903 when they received backing from a prominent businessman. This enabled them to equip workshops especially for working on modern design in a range of applied arts like glass, metalwork and jewellery.Online art courses
The aim of the Wiener Werkstatte artists and designers was to bring good design and art into every part of people's lives. They also wanted to break with the past and bring new style to everything they produced. Emphasis was placed on the beautiful and unique as well as faultless craftsmanship.
The concept was modeled after Charles Robert Ashbee's Guild of Handicraft. By 1905 it had over a hundred craftsmen, of whom 37 were masters of their trade, its strong point being handmade metalware whose reductive style proved its dependence on hand production.
In addition to the workshops on its own premises, the Wiener Werkstätte had recourse to free-lance craftsmen, students at Kunstgewerbeschule of Vienna (the School of Applied Arts, where both Hoffmann and Moser taught) and contemporary industry. Furniture production, for example, though at one point part of the Werkstätte's program, was more congenially licensed to outside manufacturers such as Gebrüder Thonet and J. & J. Kohn. In 1907, the Wiener Werkstätte took over distribution for the Wiener Keramik, a ceramics workshop of kindred spirit headed by Michael Powolny and Berthold Löffler...

Sleeping Baby, Jan Sluijters (1881-1957)
Located in AMSTELVEEN, NL
This oil painting on panel by Jan Sluijters depicts a peaceful domestic scene of a sleeping child surrounded by scattered toys on a soft blanket. The work radiates tenderness, with Sluijters’ characteristic use of light and color lending warmth and intimacy to the composition. The baby’s serene expression highlight Sluijters’ mastery of capturing everyday life with emotional depth.
Jan Sluijters (1881–1957) was a pioneering Dutch painter who significantly modernized Dutch art in the early 20th century. His style evolved from luminism to fauvism, expressionism, and eventually realism, with his works often celebrating modern life and domestic intimacy. Known for his vibrant use of color and light, Sluijters produced a wide range of works, including portraits, landscapes, and scenes of everyday life. His contributions to modern Dutch art...

Baryshnikov in Back and White by Mikhail Baryshnikov Collectible Art Book
Located in Moreno Valley, CA
Baryshnikov in Back and White By Mikhail Baryshnikov Collectible Art Book.
The only collection of photographs documenting the last three decades of Mikhail Baryshnikov's brilliant career. Universally acknowledged as the most celebrated artist in the dance world ( Time magazine proclaimed him 'the greatest living dancer') Mikhail Baryshnikov's defection from the Soviet Union in 1974, at the age of twenty-six, breathed new artistic freedom into an already astonishing career. Working with American Ballet Theatre (where he was Artistic Director for ten years), the New York City Ballet (with George Ballanchine), and finally forming his own company in 1990 with Mark Morris, White Oak Dance Project, Baryshnikov has, over these past decades, changed the face of dance. Baryshnikov in Black and White presents, in over 175 photographs, the remarkable breadth of his achievement between the years 1974 and 2000. From his legendary roles in the classic ballets Giselle and Don Quixote , to his work with some of the world's greatest contemporary choreographers, Baryshnikov is shown here in both rehearsal and performance. Captured by the leading dance photographers, his vitality and genius are evident on every page. With an inspired and richly detailed essay by the New Yorker dance critic (and Baryshnikov biographer) Joan Acocella, a complete chronology of his roles, and extensive annotated captions, Baryshnikov in Black and White is the definitive book on his remarkable career in the West.
From the moment of his first, spectacular North American appearance--in 1974, at the age of 26--Mikhail Baryshnikov was viewed as one of ballet's great virtuosos. But few could guess that his experimental spirit would lead him from princely roles in the classics to trailblazing collaborations with modern dance choreographers. Baryshnikov in Black and White reveals key moments of the dancer's artistic evolution from 1974 to 2000 in more than 175 starkly expressive black-and-white photographs. Glimpses of performances with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and the White Oak Dance Project join a few well-chosen studio rehearsal shots. They demonstrate Baryshnikov's enormous range, from the classical purity of Apollo to the improvisational HeartBeat: mb, from partnering Natalia Makarova...
