About the Item
Elegant Italian bar cart from the 1960s, crafted with a refined combination of polished brass and steel—an approach typical of the finest Italian metalwork of the period and fully aligned with the post-1958 modernist aesthetic. The frame features a squared, architectural silhouette with flat profiles and clean, balanced proportions. The cart includes two clear glass shelves set within a crisp metal structure, enhanced by distinctive rounded brass fasteners, a hallmark of Italian workshops specialized in precision metalworking. The two-tier configuration provides generous space for display or service, while the four brass casters ensure excellent mobility. Small yet made of solid brass and finely turned, they clearly indicate a higher level of craftsmanship compared to the more economical trolleys fitted with plastic or stamped-metal wheels. Defined by linear profiles and rigorous geometry, the piece reflects the modernist language developed in Milan and northern Italy between the late 1950s and early 1960s. The contrasting brass and steel finishes, along with the absence of decorative elements, closely recall the Milanese/Lombard school. The brass retains its original polished and lacquered finish, while the steel provides an elegant counterpoint, emphasizing the two-tone effect typical of the decade.
