A refined mid-century trolley designed by Torbjørn Afdal for Mellemstrands Møbelfabrik Bruksbo, Norway, circa 1960s. Executed in richly figured wood, the piece exemplifies Afdal’s restrained Scandinavian modern aesthetic, where utility and elegance meet in equal measure.
The upper section features two drawers with sculpted recessed handles, their horizontal grain carefully aligned to emphasize the natural beauty of the wood. Torbjørn Afdal
Torbjørn Afdal was one of the leading designers at Bruksbo Tegnekontor and in Scandinavia. Afdal became more well known when his furniture was bought by US first lady Jacqueline Kennedy and by the Japanese Emperor. In later years, he was granted the commission to design the parliamentary and chairs and tables to the courthouse in Oslo.
