About the Item
This vintage rolling cart is an original Paul McCobb design for the Planner Group line, produced by Winchendon Furniture.The underside retains the stamped McCobb/ Planner Group/Winchendon mark. Designed with McCobb's signature functional minimalism the cart combines clean lines,solid craftsmanship, and a thoughtful multi-tier layout suited for both storage and serving.
The top features a drop-leaf configuration, allowing the surface to expand or reduce as needed. When extended, the cart offers a wider work or serving area; when folded, it maintains a slim footprint ideal for smaller spaces. Beneath the top is an open shelf and single dovetailed drawer, offering practical storage. A lower full-width shelf provides additional space for books, barware, or display pieces.
The cart is supported by a black metal frame with original casters, allowing easy mobility. The wood appears to be the maple commonly used throughout the Planner Group line, though species cannot be confirmed.Age-appropriate wear is present across all surfaces, including scratches, marks, and some ring impressions-consistent with decades of use and typical for an unrestored Planner Group piece.A versatile McCobb design, this cart functions well as a bar cart, side server, workspace extension, or compact console.
