About the Item
A hand painted and Japanned game table with beautiful gilt decoration from the 18th century. Octagonal in shape and lined with an exceptional needlepoint lining depicting playing cards and flowers. An absolutely stunning piece with gorgeous details. In the manner of Robert Adam, circa 1780.
Provenance: Estate of Douglas Fairbanks (5/23/1883-12/12/1939). An American actor and film maker commonly referred to as "The King of Hollywood" during the first half of the 20th century. He hosted the first Academy Awards in 1929 and was a founding member of the Motion Picture Academy and United Artists.
