We are pleased to offer an exceptionally rare and elegant large Viennese Biedermeier pedestal table, dating from around 1820–1825. Authentic pieces of this caliber are increasingly difficult to find, especially in such well-preserved condition. Large Biedermeier tables from Vienna are among the most sought-after and hardest to acquire due to their limited original production and the exceptional craftsmanship required to create them.
This exquisite table represents the very finest in early 19th-century Austrian design. It features a beautifully book-matched walnut veneered top with a deep light amber tone and a rich, natural patina developed over 200 years. Finished in traditional French polish, the surface has a soft, luminous sheen that enhances the wood’s natural character. The top rests gracefully on an ebonized, vase-shaped pedestal, which is anchored by a striking three-disc walnut veneered base – a masterful balance of form, proportion, and detail.
What sets Viennese Biedermeier apart is its harmony of simplicity and sophistication. With its refined lines and noble materials, this table is not only a functional object but a timeless statement piece.
