About the Item

A Florentine Parquetry Lacquer and Parcel Gilt Center Table, 16th Century Description: the top of rectangular form with inlaid cubic parquetry decoration, contained by a moulded edge above a moulded frieze with a relief carved acanthus meander surmounting the black lacquered parcel gilt treillage border punctuated by floral motifs, gilded ball pendants to each corner, the whole raised on eight turned black lacquered barley twist legs entwined with gilded cord rising to a Corinthian capital, the moulded 'H' stretcher with extended cross and centred by a gilded ball finial. Provenance: Private Important Australian Collection. Dimensions: Height: 80cm. Width: 140cm. Depth: 81cm.
