About the Item

A most impressive French 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood and Campan Rubané marble center table. The rectangular table is raised by impressive square tapered legs with fine mottled foliate feet and richly carved recessed berried laurel designs set on a superb hammered background and framed within a mottled border. Above each leg are striking block rosettes flaking the apron which is decorated with additional beautiful finely detailed berried laurel bands set on a superb hammered background and repeated at each side with a remarkable richly carved central rosette framed within a fine mottled and beaded band. Above is the original Campan Rubané marble top with a fine mottled border fitted within an exceptional fluted border with striking Fleur de Lys at each corner. All original gilt throughout.
