About the Item
A handsome and high quality French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. Tulipwood, Kingwood, Ormolu, and Breche D'Alep marble center table. This stunning rectangular table is raised by four square tapered legs ending with impressive Ormolu sabots with flutes and rosettes all over a demi lune ball. Each leg is inlaid in Tulipwood and bordered by Kingwood while decorated by top Ormolu mounts with dentil designs and additional rosettes. Above each leg are the corner blocks with pierced mounts of acorns and leaves tied by a top bow. The sides all display recessed central panels in Tulipwood while bordered by Kingwood. The panels are framed within an Ormolu beaded band. The front and back sides are also decorated by a central reserves of a Satyr. The Satyr is surrounded by scrolled acanthus leaves above a berried laurel swaging garland. At the top lays is original and thick Breche D'Alep marble with a mottled edge.
