Antique marble topped Régence style giltwood centre table
French, 19th century
Height 77.5cm, width 133.5cm, depth 81.5cm
This splendid centre table showcases everything beautiful about the opulent Regence style of furniture making: its intricate carved Baroque patterns, its shells, its veined white marble top. The table takes a rectangular shape and is set on four curved, or cabriole legs, which are joined together by an x-shaped stretcher. The centre of the stretcher features a vase form ornament with draped floral garlands at each corner. At the top of the table the frame is also curved, and decorated with carvings depicting foliate motifs, shells and scrolls. The table is topped with shaped, curved veined white marble. This table will make an excellent statement addition to a luxury interior.
