About the Item
A French Empire Guéridon/Center-table with Egyptian Revival Bronze winged Figural Mounts with a circular Green Verde Antico marble top, supported by a mahogany base with gilded bronze mounts. The marble top is dark green Verde Antico and sits flush within the mahogany frame.
The apron is adorned with applied gilded bronze mounts. At the front, a circular medallion with a male profile in relief is centered between symmetrical scrolling foliate motifs and flanking acanthus leaves. Additional gilded bronze mounts, including rosettes and stylized ornamentation, are arranged at regular intervals around the apron.
Three tapering mahogany legs extend downward from the apron. Each leg features a gilded bronze winged female caryatid figure affixed to the upper section, with detailed facial features, a headdress, and extended wings that curve outward along the apron’s lower edge. The legs terminate in gilded bronze paw feet with defined claws and textured surfaces.
A triangular mahogany stretcher connects the three legs at their lower sections, with each side slightly concave. The stretcher’s upper surface is smooth and polished, matching the finish of the legs and apron. The table stands on three points of contact, with the stretcher reinforcing the lower structure. The gilded bronze elements are shaped in high relief with detailed casting and a polished finish.
